I think that "message board deterioration" has more to do with the flow of people in and out of the site than anything else. New people come, old people leave, some things stay the same, but the personality is bound to shift.

For me, most of my friends and favourite posters here have disappeared. There are a lot of new people I like or at least don't hate, but what they bring to the table is naturally different, so part of the appeal is lost for good.

I kind of wouldn't agree. The idea advanced in the OP was initially what caused me to jack it in with this forum in 2008 and not come back till about 2011. I found the elitism and musical snobbery annoying, hurtful and unfair. Then I manned up, came back and said "**** you guys if you hate my music (and you do) - it ain't gonna stop me listening to it, and you can criticise and **** on it all you want, won't change my own opinion of it."

Then I learned to interact with some of the snarky elements and tried to give as good as I got. Generally, I failed; but I stopped taking everything quite so seriously. I think in fairness a lot of this change in attitude has come from my interaction with Batty, who has shown me that you can diss the hell out of something but only be joking, and that every negative comment doesn't necessarily have to be hurtful; it's up to you how you take it.

That said, there is indeed little in the way of new ideas being advanced and I think if it was not for the Lounge this place would be a lot less populated, and a lot less fun than it is at the moment.

I read the whole thing and thought it sounded like a very different MB than what I know. I joined August 2015, was MIA for about ½ a year in 2016 and then came back. I've been here long enough to see what MB is, I'd say. There's not a lot of snobbery, quite a lot of different kinds of music being pushed and people in here are different, have eclectic tastes, yet manage to find common ground. There could be more activity in here, that's the only problem, but I don't find the OP to reflect what I've experienced over the past 2 years or so.

Where can I sign up for these $5 haircuts? That's a great rate.

The cheapest I can get is about 130 kroner, which translates to 20,66 dollars on the current rate. And that's the immigrant saloons I always go to. A Danish owned hair saloon will easily be 2,5 times as expensive.

I read this as 2,066 dollars and was muchly concerned.

That would take some inflation.

I keep forgetting that Americans use a "." instead of a "," for decimals. Or at least sometimes? I'm confused.

I know Denmark is an expensive country to live in, 20% sales tax and all, but there are limits.

Seriosly though, that's my take on MB. Maybe I'm just enough of a newbie yet that people are taking it easy on my questionable tastes.
