If you're ever out on a Monday, I couldn't recommend Opus enough. 90p in, 90p drinks all night, and it's always been really lively in there whenever I've gone. Mint Lounge is dead expensive (a mate of mine saw Ricky Hatton in there one night - gives you some idea), but it plays funk, soul and r'n'b on a Saturday night, which is just my kinda thing. Not really so sure about other spots to go to for a good night out though. |

Go to Grand Central on Oxford Street mate. Im hoping its still as awesome as it was the last time i was there. Its just your average pub like but it gets canny busy and the jukebox is amazing. It might be a little too heavy for you to share my enthusiasm but if i lived in Manchester that would be my regular boozer for sure.

For more of an Indie night out, hit The Northern Quarter area of the city centre. Plenty of places with live bands. Bars in the Northern Quarter Manchester If you have a bit of money and want a more laid back night out, go to the Castlefield area near the old Roman fort. Pubs and Bars in Castlefield, Manchester A really great night out is the Gay Village in and around (C)anal (S)treet. No threat of violence and straight friendly. http://www.manchesterbars.com/location-***village.htm < Homophobic link...just google! Avoid the Printworks and Deansgate, unless you want your head kicking in. The Locks area is OK though, but expensive. You could always pay homage at the spiritual home of Northern Soul while you're here and visit The Twisted Wheel club on Whitworth Street. Cheers guys, just the kind of info I'm after there
I've heard of the Twisted Wheel (that compilation the Twisted Wheel Story gets a ridiculous amount of plays from me), and I've been meaning to go since I first found out it was still open about a year ago. My mates keep wussing out of the idea whenever I bring it up though. It has nights on the last Sunday and the first Friday of the month if I remember correctly (might be the other way round though). I'd absolutely love to go see it one night though - barring the off-chance some random pub will have a guest northern soul DJ, Bolton's a backwater for that kinda thing (and a lot of others if I'm honest). |

I'm wondering if anyone here's been to Toronto and what did you think? Or if anyone wants to visit? Just curious. |

And, yeah, it's down by the printworks. Never had any trouble down there myself, but that's probably because I always go there in a group of 5 or 6 people. |
