As long as we're handing out advice, it'd be helpful if you hit the quote button to pick up headers for your quotes. In other words, replace this: [QUOTE] with one of these: [QUOTE=VEGANGELICA;1124658] That way we can see who you're quoting and trace your quotes back to the original posts. Specifically, I have shortened your original post to the two phrases that I was referring to, names "All cows get killed" and "All chickens get killed". There is a definite implication there that how they die (or indeed, how they live) doesn't mean anything to you. |
^^^ actually what I was implying was that the age of the animal at the time of death makes no difference to me.
In regards to method of death; I don't see why people assume mechanized methods are somehow more cruel than hands on methods. |
The age of the animal does make a difference to you, actually :P Calf meat is called Veal, not Beef, Lamb meat is Lamb, Sheep meat is Mutton ;)
Regarding the mechanical methods, they are not accurate, they are not humane, and they do not ensure a painless death. So yes, they're definitely more cruel than the stunning methods because of this. |

You can't estimate any measure of stress an animal goes through as it is corralled through the instruments of its demise? Industrialization alone created this phenomenon. These creatures aren't completely stupid. They know what's going to happen to them before it does. |

and the grisly examples of where the machinery fails to work properly, mangling and torturing live animals who are supposed to be dead. There are unnecessarily cruel 'hands on' methods too, but the bulk offenses seem the most hellish. |
So, people assume it's a nastier way to go because of the aesthetics involved?

Norwegian seal hunters had to stop clubbing seal cubs because it hit the media and people thought it looked too brutal .. Nevermind that the seals generally died instantly and were knocked out in any case which is more than what you can say for the method clubbing was replaced with which was simply shooting the animals. A bullet can miss vital organs and take a lot longer to kill a seal which could slip down through a hole in the ice with the bullet still in it. They should bring back the clubs! http://wflendangeredstreamlive.org/y...ubbing_med.jpg To be fair and lend some support, I do believe Skaltezon also mentioned failing machinery. And that sounds to me like it could have grisly results. |
