I do think you should have included some of this in your original post. Certain sections of the genre fans have indeed used it to political ends but the scene as a whole will be completely misunderstood by your OP I feel. A little more background research may have been needed before pinning a whole musical scene as racist.

I know that wasn't your intention and I myself hate the fact that certain music is used a thin veil to vent spleen on issues when good old rhetoric would suffice but when such strong issues as this are brought forth then background info is key.
