Ah.
I hope it's not permanent. And you're right, he gets excessively defensive, but I get a lot out of his presence when he's being productive and I know others do too. I just wish he'd take it a little easier around here.
It's hard seeing good members getting themselves on the blacklist. You sort of expect it from the newer members who haven't yet learned the ropes fully, but the guys and gals around here that you actually invest interest in and have been around a long while, as selfish as it may be, you want them to stick around because they do contribute in their own ways and you benefit from it.

Guess there's nothing you can do about their behavior though. Just gotta hope they play by the rules.

Yeah I know what you mean. But booboo's been banned twice since I've been here, so maybe it's something to get used to.

I was a little shocked when anticipation got banned for a week or so though.

Hehe... you must have not been around when he was mod and flipped out and banned like half the active members on this site. That was really the catalyst, but prior to that he'd been in many spats with several members over personal differences. I think most of us can agree that he was the wrong kind of person to be a moderator in an environment filled with opinions you probably don't agree with, but after that incident it seems he just gave up even trying to be a part of the community at all.

I know this is internet or whatever, but if you're going to spend your time on a website learning and contributing and helping others, the least you can do is get along with most of the people you're interfacing with. Arguments are expected, but I think BooBoo just let it get to him too much.

The rest is history I guess.

Oh crap.. we're way off topic here.
Let's fix that:

You will be missed, David. And we know that you'll still be around the boards, but it's kinda like when your parents get a divorce and your dad still visits but he's no longer calling the shots...

Still, to have committed as much as you have while juggling a family, a job and a life, it speaks volumes about your character. I just hope that the next MB daddy aspires to be the next David and that the impression you've made here becomes a standard that everyone aspires to and no one takes for granted.

Thanks.

...blah, blah, blah.

Anyone who's modded these boards knows that the Admin here pretty much leave the day to day running of the boards to it's moderators, but when it comes to improving the forum with new ideas, new mods etc. it takes someone to mediate in order to get things done.
I took that responsibility, more out of impatience than anything else.
That and a natural urge to organise shit. It's a life long itch that extends to real life, much to my other half's despair. :/

While it's nice to read some of the comments on here (and I do appreciate them) I can't help getting the impression that my stepping down is going to make some kind of difference to these boards.
Which of course it won't!
I wouldn't have stepped down if that was the case.
It won't make a blind bit of difference while long time veterans like Urban and Big3 still have the desire to keep this place ticking over, along with Tor's organisational skills, jackhammer's enthusiasm, SATCHMO's presence and the priceless work of the other upcoming forum leaders.

Long live MB.

Lock please...

I thought Dave's retirement would fit nicely in it's own thread rather than in the meet the mods thread, so I winged it and had'em moved. Just a heads up.
