i agree totally...and glad to see there are people that will use the net for that purpose. i see too many people that sit on youtube all day and watch 30 second clips of people getting nailed in the balls.
and its interesting to think about what you said being the first gen to not know what it's like without the net...wow. i feel lucky to be on the tail end of that...i had a few years of my life without the net and i got to see its growth. quite amazing, actually. i will be sure to help spread the word |

i have no idea what those two videos were attempting to illustrate.
civil unrest in a foreign country? i needn't remind you this was the case in France not more than a few years ago, what impression belabors you that we should be particularly concerned? you're acting like this is something worth giving a damn about, all i saw was a case of involuntary manslaughter and an ensuing riot. is there something i'm missing?

Okay, in a nutshell:
Election happened in Iran. Obiously rigged. People began protesting. Protests turned somewhat violent. People died. Media in America reported on it. I think Michael Jackson died or something. Media stopped caring. The goverment in Iran is still shooting people for protesting. I felt the need to spread the word. |

at the very LEAST people should be made of aware of this to understand that your typical iranian is not a terrorist or the enemy in any way...i have met TOO MANY people in the US who think brown skin...muslim...bad. even more people assume that because the iranian government is corrupt and bent on a war, the iranian people must be the same. these videos show that is not the case...the population there are sick of the government and want a change.
how does this affect people in the us? maybe people will start caring a bit more...maybe once the inevitable war there comes for the states people here will be a bit more understanding and we can change how we handle the situation accordingly. edit: i have an issue with feeling empathy to the point where i can imagine myself in that situation and how i would feel...especially since it was with a handheld camera and was easy to imagine it being me. seeing that person getting run over was incredibly sad...he was already defenseless in the road.. |

Not that there's anything wrong with what you're doing, but what media isn't reporting on this? CNN has been covering it for the past few days (since the protests re-intensified) and there's a story about it on the front page of CNN right now.
