Hamiltons are not very good family dogs, it's a hunting breed. They require a lot of excercise and also need to excercise their hunting instincts. I don't think anyone should get one unless they either do hunting or spend a lot of time outdoors.
There are alternatives. Beagles are similar, but generally better family dogs. When people get dogs, they should really think about what they were bred to do. Some are just not happy with a kind of average family life and they quickly turn into problem dogs.
