Default mIRC

I need to get into What.cd, but I can't. I don't even know how to use mIRC well enough to take the test. Here's what is says to do:

"Before joining #what.cd-invites, several considerations must be made. First, make sure you are using a decent IRC client such as mIRC (Windows), xChat (Linux), or Colloquy (Mac OS X). Second, make sure you are not connecting via a webchat, proxy, TOR, or shell, as connections of this type are not allowed in #what.cd-invites. Third, use your home connection.

To join the What.CD server and #what.cd-invites:

* Connect to IRC Server: irc.what.cd Port: 6667 (6697 for SSL).
* Type '/join #what.cd-invites' in your client.
* Read the topic.

Note: Do not join other channels on the irc.what.cd and ask for invites. You will be banned from the server. "

Here's the site: What.CD: A Beginner's Guide

If anyone can help with the "interview" or test information that'd be steller too. Thanks oh great Music Banter, sincerely,
-Schizo

Do you have any more specific problems?

I wrote up a guide on how to join the musicbanter chatroom. That might help you in your quest.

edit :

What is what.cd?

I joined rizon or something, then I typed "/join #what.cd-invites" and mIRC disappeared.

You've connected to the wrong server then, although I don't know why mIRC should disappear.

Anyways, you need to get on to server : irc.what.cd

The one you connected to is probably : irc.rizon.net

Reading the guide, you should find out where you can replace one for the other. If not, you can just log on to whatever server and then write in the text box "/server irc.what.cd" and your client will connect to it.

That's eventually what I did and then connected to the "interview" room, and it was just me for like an hour. =/

I checked it out and there's a channel full of people there. Either you're on the wrong channel or you're on the wrong server or both.

In your IRC client, once you've started up and tried connecting to any server, all you need to do is write the following two things :
/server irc.what.cd
This disconnects you from the server you're currently on and tries to connect you to irc.what.cd. Once it gets a connection, you'll get an motd and some messages. A window may pop up and ask you what channel you want to join. Just click OK or something to get it away - that's the newb way to find channels.

Instead, get back to the text box and write :
/join #what.cd-invites
And you should be there!
