but seriously. 7 euros a month. take a sandwich to work instead of going out to and you've got it covered. no wait times, fast downloads, and support for download managers.
Heh I'm not sure how kindly my work would take to that...

Really though, I think you're right about that cycle. But I still don't understand why more people aren't switching to mediafire; I mean I'm sure a lot of people that are uploading and downloading don't have a premium account, and I'll take 2 or 3 MB/s over 150 kb/s any day. Mediafire has such a nice interface too, and your stuff stays instead of disappearing after however long it is or whatever it is with rapidshare.

Luckily there's a lot of electronic music forums based in other countries. That's where I usually go. 4clubbers.pl, just4music.eu, and then also soundarea.org but that also has other genres.

there are more premium users out there than you think. for the files i have hosted, i typically get 1 premium to 2 free. anyway so many people still use RS that it's easy to get points, which means it's easy for me to get free extensions to my account. again with the cycle. these guys know what they're doing

Yeah but it's going against the whole point of downloading stuff for free. If I'm going to spend money to acquire music I'd rather just give it to the artists than people hosting a download site.

fair enough. but you have to admit, 7 euros a month won't buy you very much music...

besides i tend to download a lot of HD video as well. good luck grabbing a 15 gig movie as a free user!

to each his own obviously, but i'll keep paying for rapidshare as long as it's around. any album i want is less than 30 seconds away - to me, that's worth paying a few bucks for

Yeah but when demonoid was up any discography I wanted, even the rarest, was a search and a click away.

i guess it depends on the music you like, and the quality you prefer. i found deomonoid to be mediocre at best for music, especially for (what i consider to be) rare stuff...

Really? I found that probably over half of what I was looking for wasn't on Demonoid... files were usually seeded pretty well, and dled pretty fast, so that was a plus. People uploaded a decent amount of fake torrents/viruses, so that was a bit of a problem.

Yeah, good point. Okay, granted it would take a little searching. But It was still pretty easy. Just look at the comments to see if it's a virus, and if the discog doesn't have all the main albums just look into another "disgoc" and fill in the blanks. It would take maybe ten minutes to half an hour depending on how many albums it was... sometimes it would take like a week actually. Only in cases like Brian Eno, Frank Zappa, Sun Ra, Miles Davis, etc

Still, try pulling off getting 74 albums for one artist in less then a week through mediafire.... idk maybe you could do it.

I used to be part of a torrent site called PureLiveGigs, mostly to get some Spacemen 3 divids. It's another private torrent site, but it's a hella lot easier to get in (no invite required), but you need to keep your seed/leech ratio up to atleast 25% which isn't too bad.
