I've moderated this site for approx. the last 3 years.
When I was first made a moderator, these boards were populated by more than it's fair share of trolls, flamers, and spammers. Far more than we see today. (at least to the regular members anyway)
Consequently there were countless arguments leading to in-fighting between certain individuals, which in turn produced cliques.
This behaviour wasn't limited to regular members either. It included one or two moderators who took it on themselves to isolate and eventually drive away other members from these boards for all kinds of silly reasons.
Some of which included personal and unfounded accusations based on nothing more than ridiculous imaginings.
For the love of this site, I made it my business to defend the newbs from the flamers, to weed out the trolls and the time wasters, break up the elitist groups and manipulate the modding of several members, including the de-modding of several others in a calculated bid (which I still try and do today for the good of the site despite personal opinion) to sort out what I thought were the problems this site had at the time.
Yes it's true that sometimes I have an attitude and come over as being less than diplomatic towards one or two members. That I admit.
Why? Because I've seen it all before and after 3 years of modding this site my patience with these IDIOTS (there's that word again) has worn pretty thin to say the least.
I've NEVER banned a member/idiot that didn't deserve it.

Vegangelica...what do you want me to do?
Reinstate The Unfan and let him continue disrupting the boards, harrassing members and mods alike?
Stop warning flamers and banning trolls?
Quit being blunt and rude toward people who don't deserve to be here and waste my time being nice to them?
Resign?

BTW that thought crosses my mind every time I read a post like yours questioning the way these boards are run.

Hi Right-Track,
Thanks for your response. I *do* know how much you do for the site...I just want to make sure you realize that...and I know I don't see all the work it takes because much of it is invisible, but I still appreciate it. I realize how without all the work you and the other mods have done and continuously do for the site, that it would be overrun with people intent on trolling. I also see your many helpful posts to people, sharing music suggestions, etc.

The only thing I wish you would do is apologize to me for implying I'm an idiot and a moron, because it hurt my feelings a little and because I feel it is important to follow the MB rule of not putting people down personally. Actually verbalizing an apology may seem like a tiny thing, but to me it is meaningful, because then I will tell you I accept your apology fully and all will go back to how it was before between us. Except, well, now you do know me a little better, and you know that if there is ever any conflict between us that I'm open to talking things out.

I do accept the Unfan's banning...I understand that the many intentionally hurtful things he did outweigh the positive, and that he had many opportunities you and other moderators gave him to change his ways. If I see someone labeled as something ("idiot," etc.) I want to stand up (as I did in his case) and point out the more complicated reality...no one is "all bad" or "all good." I would stand up on your behalf if someone calls you a mean name, too.

It is true that I think rudeness and bluntness aren't helpful on MB, though I understand you would be angry with people wasting your time, because life is limited and time is precious. That's also my argument for trying to be polite...because in my experience any meanness shown to someone just ripples out...that person becomes angrier...takes it out on someone else, etc., on and on. Since life is short I try not to make people sad or angry. I apologize if my letters frustrated you, because I didn't intend them to, David.
