If you really want to compair the two without taking the fact that one was intended for children into consideration... then in terms of character development, stor progression, organization, story and vocabulary Tom Clancy is going to win. Green Eggs and Ham beats it on rhyming... and pictures. |

My original idea was just to have people nominate their favorite books. IF someone ended up nominating a Dr. Seuss book or something like that, we'd just see if people actually voted it in. If it made it in, I guess people would consider it better than Tom Clancey |

I'm not talking about different genres. We are talking purely about the differences between a book written for children and one written for adults.
JIMMY walked to school vs. The way she looked that night lifted my soul from the darkest corner of my depression. Why the hell is it so difficult to understand? |

Story, are there any five year olds here? No.
You really think that most adults, not to mention teenagers are going to vote for Doctor Seuss over Tom Clancy? No. But that certainly doesn't make the latter better. Cultural impact is really the only thing that one can compare between books like these, nothing more. And what do you mean people wouldn't vote for the Bible? By cultural impact alone, it's the most important book ever by a longshot. People are willing to kill for it. That's important. |
