I hope you can get your hands on some of those. Since I can't get good British style porters in my area, I rely on those sweeter stouts. So so good.

music_collector 08-08-2022 06:19 PM

We bought a kayak yesterday. I now have to find a place to store it. Good ol' impulse buy.

Plankton 08-11-2022 09:24 AM

I was out canoeing years ago and found a disc golf course next to the river. It's been a while since I did any boating or water stuff though. Maybe a decade or so.

My most recent acquisition:

It's for my new cutting board. I failed to follow the directions and treat it before using it, but it'll be fine. I just did the second/cream treatment yesterday, so it should be good to go later on today.

I was wearing my American Legion hat for a while thinking my hair would grow back. LOL nope! still bald, so I bought this hat like I used to wear before in Iowa. Only $13

music_collector 09-20-2022 02:50 PM

The last thing I bought was my Ghost tshirt at their show on Friday.

Did you soak it in Rogaine or something? How's a ****ing hat supposed to cure baldness?

Just going to cover the bald head up :o:

Bought a camping sleeping bag cause going camping has been a goal for awhile now and with a new, better paying job I figure it's high time to start getting kitted out to encourage myself to actually use the stuff.

I've had a cheap tent for years that I've never used and recently I found out cheap tents aren't necessarily waterproof so I'm waiting for a rainy day to set it up in the backyard and see how it does and if a new tent needs to be my next goal.

There are some waterproofing sprays you can use on tents. Another option is to put a tarp over top when you sleep.

music_collector 09-26-2022 08:56 PM

Surprise surprise.

The last thing I bought was a two CD set from Lita Ford.

I usually try to find a spot near some tree's, so I can tie a tarp to the branches over my cheap-o tent. It also keeps the rain noise down.

The Batlord 09-27-2022 10:59 PM

That would indeed be the smarter choice than spending several hundred dollars on a "good" tent. So assuming I tarp up I guess I just need a sleeping pad unless you terrorists also have a better idea.

Plankton 09-28-2022 07:58 AM

Better is subjective. I have an air mattress that I fill with a pump that plugs into a car lighter port, but they sell small, light, battery operated pumps too:

https://www.amazon.com/Intex-Quick-F.../dp/B07F3DNV62

It all depends on how heavy you wanna pack and how you plan on getting to your camp site though. An air mattress is bulky and heavy, so I wouldn't wanna throw one in a backpack and trek out on foot. The last couple two three times I've gone camping I got there by vehicle.

I had these when I was a kid. I always appreciated Don's style.

Mindy 09-28-2022 09:27 AM

cool books plankton, sucks that sticker is on the one, hopefully it comes off smooth if you take it off

Plankton 09-28-2022 09:33 AM

Oh man, I know. I was kinda pissed they'd put it there, but I'm gonna see if I can peel it without destroying whats underneath. That one was only $5, so I'm glad the other $25 one is tagless. I guess the Digs Deeper issue is harder to find.

Plankton 09-28-2022 03:59 PM

All good

I miss Mad Magazine.

Plankton 09-28-2022 04:21 PM

Mad and Cracked were my rags. It really does explain a lot with why I am the way I am.

Cartoons too.

It was an easy peel. Unlike some of the tags the resale shops around here use. I think they do it out of spite.

I'm not planning to start out backpacking but I'm definitely interested in it, so any gear I pick up I'd rather be good for that.

Plankton 09-28-2022 08:26 PM

Pack light, carry essentials. Godspeed.

The Batlord 09-28-2022 08:59 PM

Yeah my new sleeping bag doesn't feel particularly light but I'm a bigger dude so I need a bigger bag and I and a tosser and a turner so I'm not wild about mummy bags so I guess I have to live with a little extra weight for that.

Plankton 09-28-2022 09:11 PM

I carried an extreme weather bag and a **** ton of accessories since I was 60 cal support in the Army and I'm a little under 6' and 200 lbs. You'll be aiight. Where you trekkin? Virginia area?

The Batlord 09-28-2022 09:19 PM

Yeah. General area of Virginia Beach. Would love to get out to the mountains in the western part of the state if I can get like a week off. I know we got Shenandoah National Park out there and it would probably be way better than a week-long staycation playing video games.

just seeing someone in a mummy bag gives me anxiety. how can people live like that. speaking of mattresses, in my experience the self-inflating ones are often lighter and don't need to pump. They work quite well, especially if you blow them up a bit extra

I would absolutely get out to that if I lived out that way.

My aunt and uncle used to vacation there. A friend just came back from there.

Regarding sleeping bags, I bought a double sized bag. It's very roomy.

Mindy 10-01-2022 01:44 PM

The keyboard is here and it's cool, the keys are nice and loud :)

I tracked the package all day and thought it would have been here around 11am but nope, 330pm

Just realized it doesnt have the switch tracks on music buttons and its just plain of normal mode but w/e I am still pumped to type on it.
