Birthday Binge
Started off the week ordering various hanging lanterns as part of a boho-chic redecoration project for our bedroom.

Really happy with those purchases. http://i.imgur.com/M67AavV.jpg Got a shameless hipster bag yesterday - a smashing leather bag perfect for walking/biking with my tablet in tow to the office each morning. http://i.imgur.com/YCyfSMX.jpg Also yesterday my pre-ordered copy of How Music Got Free arrived in the post. Read it cover to cover by nightfall and absolutely loved it. http://i.imgur.com/p09Ifq3.jpg Then today I went antiquing for my birthday. Bought a set of ruby+gold Victorian goblets, a new cane with an engraved gold top, an oversize book of jazz musician portraits, and put an Edison Cylinder Phonograph on hold for future purchase. Here are the glasses: http://i.imgur.com/GbVG1I0.jpg And the jazz book: http://i.imgur.com/ARW6Vbe.jpg Here's the Edison: http://i.imgur.com/kBlXQXG.jpg Also bought a pair of 70s plaid wool slacks and a 70s sports jacket to celebrate in style. Here's the cane, pants, and jacket: http://i.imgur.com/AjwuuF1.jpg Also pre-ordered a German import deluxe edition vinyl release of The Orb's upcoming album which shipped today. http://i.imgur.com/ARn2zCv.jpg And last night I bought my fiance an 8GB MP3 player off Amazon so that she'd kindly return my Creative Zen X-Fi 32GB + SD media player. That thing is a TANK! http://www.slashgear.com/gallery/dat...official_2.jpg Quite a few days of purchases. I plan to cool it in the weeks ahead. |
Love the first two lanterns.

Does it ever bother you that you are the definition of hipster? |

I bought my first Underwood Series 4 typewriter in 2001, and had amassed a ridiculous collection of knit and crocheted 12-ft scarves by 2003, just as hipsterdom was coming into its own. Fortunately, I needn't worry about my style being co-opted by a generation of art-house coffee snobs. The hipster scene has come and gone. The NEW scene, according to the list-obsessed, long-form-article killer - Buzzfeed, is the Yuccies. I suppose this means I am free to flaunt my usual trademarked style - as it will surely be regarded as ironic in the "post-hipster" age. Quite simply, I am the Meta-Hipster. |

I didnt mean that offensively rather do you actually define yourself that way. Guess I should have said that.:\
