Started off the week ordering various hanging lanterns as part of a boho-chic redecoration project for our bedroom.

Then two days ago I hit up a record show and took home a number of Klaus Schulze original Brain label pressings. Really happy with those purchases.

Got a shameless hipster bag yesterday - a smashing leather bag perfect for walking/biking with my tablet in tow to the office each morning.

Also yesterday my pre-ordered copy of How Music Got Free arrived in the post. Read it cover to cover by nightfall and absolutely loved it.

Then today I went antiquing for my birthday. Bought a set of ruby+gold Victorian goblets, a new cane with an engraved gold top, an oversize book of jazz musician portraits, and put an Edison Cylinder Phonograph on hold for future purchase.

And last night I bought my fiance an 8GB MP3 player off Amazon so that she'd kindly return my Creative Zen X-Fi 32GB + SD media player. That thing is a TANK!

Does it ever bother you that you are the definition of hipster?

Roxy, baby, I am the genuine article. I was doffing my beaver fur topper and sporting all-velvet suits in my sophomore year of my first university (that was back at the turn of the century.) Those were the "dark times" back when Eiffel 65, 98 Degrees, N' Sync, Backstreet Boys, and Creed were topping the charts, five years before Nickelback's "Photograph" would drive hundreds of millennials to kill themselves in agony. At the time, the "hipsters" of mockery and memes were then in organic cotton diapers and still had training wheels on their penny-farthings.

I bought my first Underwood Series 4 typewriter in 2001, and had amassed a ridiculous collection of knit and crocheted 12-ft scarves by 2003, just as hipsterdom was coming into its own.

Fortunately, I needn't worry about my style being co-opted by a generation of art-house coffee snobs. The hipster scene has come and gone. The NEW scene, according to the list-obsessed, long-form-article killer - Buzzfeed, is the Yuccies. I suppose this means I am free to flaunt my usual trademarked style - as it will surely be regarded as ironic in the "post-hipster" age.

Quite simply, I am the Meta-Hipster.

I didnt mean that offensively rather do you actually define yourself that way. Guess I should have said that.:\

Are there actually people who define themselves as hipsters? I always thought nobody does that and that's what's funny about the whole thing.
