Been meaning to get this book for a while. I must say it covers a surprisingly broad range of musical genres - indie, hardcore-punk, extreme metal, pop, folk, drum & bass, you name it. I agree with a lot of the choices in this book and I was very surprised that I have quite a lot of them! I've learned some very interesting facts about a lot of albums too. But of course there has to be a few duff entries as well especially towards more recent years, I strongly doubt albums by Limp Bizkit and Britany Spears should be considered essential... Gonna make a list of albums from this to download soon enough.

I read it. And found so much crap.
I have more than 1001 albums in my record collection and I can tell you, I win. It's a nice read though.

Limp Bizkit on the other hand....I don't know about. I enjoyed Three Dolla Bill and I bet that's the album they probably put in that book but I don't know if I would call it essential.

It was Chocolate Starfish that they put in the book. I can't really understand how that album could be influential or essential considering nu-metal was already well and truly established when that album came out.

That album was the put together pretty well and almost all of the tracks ended up being singles because it was that good but as far as being influential. I don't get that part.

So you DIDN'T buy the pentax?
Damn. It's nice. Ah well. My dad once went out to buy this: And came back with... Who then stayed with us for seventeen (!) years.
