someone should let bat know that you can still use music you've downloaded onto your pc through spotify
Or I can, like, just listen to it without Spotify.

I do yes.
Is there anything to be said for Google Play v Spotify? I had both but then thought no point in paying for both...

There isn't much of a difference but if you pay for Google Play you also get Youtube Red and vice versa.

Anyone here got a tablet? No I haven't got a headache: I recently discovered some money I didn't know I had and am thinking of maybe (maybe) getting a tablet. Mostly it will just be for reading Kindle books, listening to some music maybe (though not necessarily) and doing some writing. I'm seeing 1gb/2gb models, screens 10.1, is this about right? What sort of storage space should I be looking for? And I need one with a keyboard or possibly a connection for one, if that's possible.

Anyone any advice? I'm not willing to spend huge money, in fact I'm only considering the idea so, say, maybe 100 Euro? Less? Are there names I should look out for/avoid, things I should know?

Impart your wisdom, o tablet owners!

Note: obviously, I don't expect/intend this to be a replacement for my PC. It would just be something extra to use.

They come in several screen sizes. 7 inch up to I think 13, I think Google did a Nexus tablet that was 13 inch.

Tablets have Bluetooth so you can just buy a Bluetooth keyboard and use that. I use a Bluetooth keyboard with my laptop even though my laptop has a keyboard, the Bluetooth one is just better (quieter, backlight).

You get what you pay for.

I considered a tablet for a year or two but was never really won over by any single one. In the end I sold my Nexus 4 and got a Nexus 6 phone which has a six inch screen and was happy with that.

I would look at the Nexi (that's plural for Nexus) tablets tbh. Might be over your budget though. Nexus 7 may be possible if it's second hand.

Thanks for that, man. My research has indicated I should consider nothing less than 16 gig for storage, 1 or 2 gigs for ram (though they tell me that the memory, oddly, is not as important as the storage?) and yeah, a 10 inch screen seems best, as I want something larger to read my books on than my Samsung Galaxy S5. It may not be possible on my budget, and I'm not that bothered that I'd raise the budget by much, as it's only a whim, a possibility. I'll keep looking. Thanks.

np m8

If you're planning on using it for music then yeah, 16gb should be OK but it'll be a bit of a squeeze.

Keep an eye on eBay, you'll get a 16gb Nexus 10 for £100 or less. 32gb might be just over.

btw I'm mentioning Nexi because that's what I've always used, there are probably good models from Samsung and the like too.

You might want to look into Amazon Fire Tablet. I just got one recently.

Fire HD 10 Tablet, 10.1" HD Display, Wi-Fi, 16 GB

but I definitely think this model is better since you get more storage space and it's cheaper than the 10 inch model.
All-New Fire HD 8 Tablet, 8" HD Display, Wi-Fi, 32 GB

I had a Nexus 7 2013 edition but that was way expensive for what it was and kind of a waste of money for my first tablet.

Also storage isn't that big of an issue if you just utilize the amazon services they offer and you use their cloud storage.

Thanks DJ. I have a Fire HD which I use to read books to my sister, but once they upgraded the firmware it became very clunky and counter-intuitive to use. I also think certain Android apps have a hard time working on it - Spotify doesn't run at all - so I would probably look more at a Windows based one. If I decide to get one at all.
