ok well I have full strength wifi connection but no internet, had to plug the ethernet back in.

I don't actually have ubuntu installed yet, so can't confirm if it would work on ubuntu. It came to mind after planktons post which suggested it may be a windows-specific issue.

pretty much im looking for an excuse to download the newest ubuntu
