This is what I think it is. Of course I have not any clue, which is why I'm asking, but it definitely makes sense. It's just bizarre because sometimes my mom will be doing something in IE, Firefox, and I'll be using Chrome, and nothing will happen. BUT the instant a video comes along, it's all fucked. It will freeze (usually it takes around 3 minutes after starting to play the video for it to freeze), come back to life (for around a minute), then freeze, then come back again, etc. And it tends to sound busy, as I said. My mom is FAR from computer savvy, and as a result I think there's probably a lot of duplicate files and whatnot. But that's more of a memory issue, nothing software related. Only I download software.

A fam mem of mine couldnt figure out how to switch on her comp wireless adapter. She said it was telling her to find a switch but her comp doesnt have one. Any suggs?

My bad Freebase...I should have looked for this thread.

Most laptops have a wireless switch to turn it on. If it's a laptop, get the make and model from her, then simply google the manual for it, which will show you the location, if it exists.

Otherwise, report back with more information.

Also, if she really doesn't have a switch, for whatever reason, her wireless connection may be disabled. She can google how to enable her wireless connection, paying attention to what operating system she's using.

She said she already figured out what it was but thanks for the advice anyway.

Some laptops have a physical switch, but most just have a combination like Fn+F4 or something like that.

I wish mines had a physical switch....mines is currently disabled and I can't get it back on :(

the FN+F8 combination isn't working like it should

Have you tried turning it o... nevermind :D
You may want to remove the software, keep the driver and use that windows wireless zero configuration thingy which works way better eitherway.

well I tried updating the driver but it said it was up to date.

Tech Support on the phone told me to uninstall the driver and have it like auto-find the correct driver or something along those lines but that didn't work so I had to do a restore to get the driver back.

The button that is supposed to be hit to enable it doesn't work. it's above my function keys bar. about half of the keys up there no longer work for some strange reason....the backlight button doesn't work, the wireless one and the eco utility one doesn't work but mute, play/pause and volume control buttons work.

with the backlight and eco utility I have been using other commands to active those but the stupid wireless one doesn't have any sort of work around that works.
