Toshiba made satellites since the early nineties.
I will need a type. Or you'll have to look it up yourself ![]()

Allright, it's hard to find indeed.
Did some googling and found you'll need the HWSetup software which you can download HERE for Windows 7 64 bit (not sure what you have) DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT YET! Please read this first: Toshiba Support Forums: Satellite A660-1FM - Function buttons ... It could be just a setting ![]()

thanks. I wish I could isolate the problem like that guy did in the thread but I have the same issue. When I press the button it lights up like it's being activated but then just dims away. I have HWsetup and I have looked in there before to enable the buttons but that didn't work. I disable and re-enabled them but still no dice.

You might want to reinstall the software then. It might help.
The dimming is just a gimmick, it always does that, even when you're not running anything. That doesn't acquire software.

Well that sucks.
In that case I'm out of options. If you just give me the laptop I'll reinstall the whole darn thing ![]()

I don't have an external hd big enough to transfer all my music, movies and pictures while I tinker around with reformatting. I need to get a 1TB external drive then I can have more fun trying to get it to work. My only option is to just wait it out or maybe take it into a tech support center near by but I know they will charge me an arm and a leg for something that I know how to do. I just don't have the space atm.

Make a friggin' back-up man. Or you'll be sorry some day. It's not like 1TB drives are all that expensive anymore ![]() Quote:

Yeah, I know 1TB drives are dirt cheap nowadays. I just need to use some of my money for it when I get a bit more. Right now my incomes comes in and goes straight out the same day to pay bills and other expenses. It fucking sucks atm but it will get better soon.
