Hjalp!!!!!


OK guys, here's my problem: there's sound coming out of only one side of my headphones for some reason when I've got the headphones plugged into the jack. It's done this before but only for a few minutes, but the second time it's done it (this time), it's just stopped working.

I've tried cleaning the gold headphone connector and the inside of the jack itself (using an air aerosol thingy) and it didn't do any good. Any other ideas?

Have you tried plugging other headphones into the same jack? If other headphones work fine, then it's not the jack. It could be that your headphones' wire is frayed or broken somewhere under the insulation, which means you'll need a new pair. Try the headphones with another audio device. If they work just fine, then it's a problem with the jack on whatever you were using them with in the first place.

I've tried three pairs of headphones and the same thing happens with all three pairs. I've tried them all in different audio devices, including my BassPOD and my keyboard, and they are all fine.

It's my laptop which is giving me the problems I should point out if I didn't mention it before.

Using windows? Try that little speaker on the bottom right corner of your screen.
Maybe your balance is set to one side.

Nope, that's all normal...

In that case I'm afraid your sound card opamp or just your jack plug is ****ed up.
It still could be a software issue. Have you tried turn... nevermind.
Have you tried playing a CD?

How are the speakers on your laptop?

If it's a soundcard problem you could try updating or reinstalling your soundcard drivers. It might fix it or it might not, but it's worth trying.

Everything else works media-wise. It's just my headphone socket which is screwed up. I can play DVDs, CDs, all my mp3s, but when I try and use my headphones I get the problem.

The external speakers work fine.

It doesn't seem to be a problem with the soundcard, playback is fine on both my built-in and on external speakers.

Sounds like it's just your headphone socket that's screwed up. :D

Unfortunately, if it's a standard built-in sound card attached to the mobo, you'll be better off just buying an external USB soundcard.
