Should tell you how much RAM you have and what processor you have installed.

EDIT: As so

Also, if you get Adaware i would get something like Spybot too, and run both of them.

I'm such a fail. Mine does NOT look like that. xD

Also, what is the nature of the freeze... are buttons clickable? Or is it just in the actual communication of messages?

Have you checked to see if your internet connection is still operable during these freezes?

when it happens im running itunes and firefox.
the freeze is like i can operate everything else except my msn, and the internet connection stays online.

It can look differently, but the information should still be there. If you right click the actual "my computer" icon (not the shortcut on your desktop, if that's what you were doing) which should be in your start menu, then selecting "properties" will show you the information in the general tab.

Oh, I'm an idiot, the information is right there. I was looking at the right thing. I just have Vista, so it wasn't in the same place.

Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-55 180 GHz
Memory (RAM): 1.00 GB

It's likely an MSN program fault then.
What version do you have? (You should be able to check this by going to "help" then "about" in the messenger interface.)

Your processor is fine, but you're running on the bare minimum RAM Vista needs in order to operate efficiently. I'd advise that you buy another 1GB stick (if your other stick is a single gig stick) so that your available RAM is at least 2 gigs.
Vista uses A LOT of RAM just to operate, so the free RAM available to any programs you're running is a lot more limited than an XP scenario.

What stick, exactly?

I'm sorry. >.<

If you don't want to physically open up your computer, go here:
CPUID and download the 64bit version (I'm assuming you're running Vista 64, from the info you gave about your processor), unzip the file and run the CPU-Z.exe

It will give you your RAM type, along with other data.
Ideally, you'll want to buy a matching stick, but the important thing is TYPE and SIZE.
If you have one 1gig stick, you need to buy one 1gig stick to match it. If your current RAM is, say DDR3, then the stick you buy needs to be DDR3 as well. If you can get the same name-brand, fine, but it's not necessary.

Once you buy the stick, you'll need to install it, so at that point you can simply google "step by step install RAM" and include what type of computer you have, whether it's a laptop or desktop.
The installation process isn't hard.. it's simply a matter of plugging it in and turning on your computer.

And that could be the reason it's running slowly?

NumberNineDream 10-06-2009 07:00 PM

Of course, I just remembered last year's computer course I took. Our teacher told us then that a Vista needs an approximate Gig alone to run itself.
