Motherfuck! I can't see some files which are clearly located on my drive (can't find them through explorer but can see them for example whilst using nero, only I can't copy the motherfuckers from nero). I'm using Vista. Halp!

Agh, so as of late my virus protection has been kind of off and on, but I figured it's time I cracked down on this so my computer doesn't download more **** than it already has. So I'm trying to download AVG, when I run into the same problem I had last time I tried to download it, which is that it "can't detect a working internet connection" and won't install. However, I very clearly have a working internet connection, and even though it's a slow wireless one it still should be detected by AVG. Does anybody know what there is to do here? It says I should fill out some information if I'm connected via a proxy server, and while I'm not completely sure if I am I'm not. This is making me sad.
Also, does anybody know of any good programs out there made to scour computers for viruses? I'm pretty sure I have one due to the fact that random pop-ups are making their way onto my screen and there are periods of time where half the links I click won't load. |

Uninstall any previous virus programs you have, then install Avast. See if it gives you the same error. If not, move forward with the installation then when it's installed, go ahead and do a full system scan. It will take a while. If it finds any viruses, let it delete them and reboot your computer. See if the popups are still there. If so, you might want to get one of those spyware removers like Spybot search & destroy or Adaware. But personally, I've never had to use either one of those since I've had Avast, which has been several years. IF you get the same connection error, let us know. WIFI is known to be crap in terms of connection stability, and that may be an issue. If it is, get a LAN cable and plug right into your router for the download/installation and virus database update. |
