My download speeds have for some reason, plummeted to a dragging pace. The other day I was downloading a file, and it was going at around 500 bytes per minute. It hasn't always been this way, here's a speed test from last October.

Now, I know this is a very broad question, but these speed will NOT do for a music collector. Is there any way I can diagnose this problem and possibly fix it? My internet connection speed is fine (albeit, somewhat sluggish), it's just the download speed.

Also, I'm not sure if this is a related issue, but videos have also been loading at an unusable rate. Here's a chart:

Try doing the test at different times of day, especially during late hours and see if you get the same result. Cable internet providers are notorious for oversubscribing nodes and you end up sharing a node's bandwidth with other subscribers on that node.
If that's the case, you'll notice you get higher speeds during lower usage periods, and vice versa.

If there's no change regardless of time-of-day, you may be getting throttled by Comcast due to high bandwidth usage. In both of these scenarios, you'll want to contact your ISP because this is an issue on their end and isn't something you can resolve without their intervention.

See what they tell you from their end, and if they can't offer an explanation then you'll have to troubleshoot things on your end. Contact them first, though, so you don't have to go through the trouble if it turns out they know what's going on off the bat.

P.S.
It's their responsibility to ensure that they're providing the services you're paying for, so don't let them try and weasel out of fixing the issue if it's on their end.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out Freebase, I really do appreciate it. The test I took recently was at around 3 AM, and I just took one at 5 PM. The results were basically the same (only .3 megabits faster).I'll try contacting Comcast and see if I can get this resolved.

sounds like your connection got capped by your ISP. it's late in the month, and if you have been downloading heavily, it's certainly a strong possibility that they've throttled your speeds until the next billing cycle.

I'm trying to backup a ps1 game and I'm very confused. So I have a folder containing one CUE file and one BIN file, and a blank disc. Where do I go from here? I have both Astroburn and Roxio Burn installed on my computer, can either of these be used or do I need a different program?
Please help.

Proxy servers, provided Websense isn't blocking them already, but they change so often that it'd be a hard thing to do unless Websense is configured in a certain way.

When you're home, go here:
Free Proxy Lists - IP and Port Lists - Hide My Ass!

- Find the server locations nearest you
- Copy the IP and port of as many as possible
- Bring the list to work and set up your web browser's proxy settings with one of the IP's and port number. Try it it. If web pages don't resolve, try another one. Keep repeating until one works. It will probably work for a couple days and you'll need to find a new one.

Or you could try web-proxies, which are a lot easier in that they allow you to go to their web page and surf anonymously through it without any setup, but they usually get blocked quicker because they're around longer... For a list, go here:

If the IT guys set up their Websense server well, you won't be able to do any of this at all. So hopefully they just simply specified certain URL's to be blocked, and you won't have much issue.
