and I see your argument, but then again it's a stupid thing to even contemplate doing...you'd need something urging you on...I knew that comment would start something, but maybe it's different because I've never had the temptation to do something like that...making it illegal doesn't really stop people taking it though...it just means they go through **** to get it, but if they want it they sure as hell get it anyway! and maybe people are thinking about it from the wrong side...saying maybe the people who take it are the bad ones when in all fairness they're probably not they probably have had horrible stuff happen to them or something. Maybe we should stop wasting our time imprisoning people for taking it...and find out why they are, maybe there should just be more people to help

most teenagers drink anyway, lowering the age will make no real difference- their either gonna get drunk in a pub or in an empty park anyway so who cares. drugs are another matter, by making them legal you'll just get people thinking its ok to take them thus more suseptical teenagers **** up their lives.

whether people think it's ok to do it or not when they want it they take uit...like smoking everybody knows its very bad for you and some people take it into acount, but they're legal giving the person a chance to makle there own decisions...making cigarettes illigal for people under 16 has never stopped school kids going out of site of teachers to have a smoke...although most of them do it for the thrill of doing somethingn they shouldn't....it'd be a hard thing to bring into power now obviously after so long it's been the cool thing to do and people will carry on
but if it was legal for them to smoke drink and take drugs at 12 and all the cool people on TV were sipping tea and eating bicuits I'm sure they wouldn't go out and get drugs. If people don't do it to look cool I dunno why they do it...sure after a while they get hooked but to start with...meh, just my thoughts. People are swayed to much by celebrities and what's "cool"

The people you are referring to are just dumb know-nothing-about-the-world high school kids. There are lots of people who get into certain habits outside of the high school atmosphere. Smoking and drinking, and even drugs, are social "aids" if you will. They bring people together and allow people to share a good time and some good laughs. Kids are gonna be kids, so the lawmakers really are powerless there. With cigarettes, they are mainly harming themselves and that is a personal decision.

I don't think 16 year olds should be drinking legally. I was 16, and I'm fully aware what it is like at that age. People at that age are simply not mature enough to handle drinking (look at 21 year olds, they're barely mature enough too). It's not right for a 16 year old to get his license and go out to the bars on the same day. It's already bad enough they cannot drive sober.
