I don't have so much of an issue with killing and eating anmals as i do with the way that they're treated while theyr'e stilll alive (factory farms). Consuming dairy and other animal products seems to be more inhumane than just eating the animal itself. As it was once told to me "if meat is murder, then dairy is rape" Besides we definitely werent meant to consume cows milk

I'll eat meat even after all the animals are extinct. cannibalism is in the future, that is STILL healthier than not eating any meat

Look....this thread has become rediculous in so many ways. There are countless opinions and reasons why one chooses to not eat meat, or any other animal by product. I will choose 3 to explain slightly. PAY ATTENTION and READ BETWEEN THE LINES.
1. Old farming ways vs. mass production; Animal Abuse True, "If I dont eat the animals, someone else will.", but you're missing an entire morally stable point, and that is the animal abuse and the effort which goes into it. Putting aside all religion and evolution, animals were put on this earth to eat...fine. At one time, growing up on a farm, raising the animal, then eating it was the way of survival. Then the industrial revolution brought about technology and mass production, thus, inventing the method of "factory farming" as the modern way to produce meat. Factory Farming- this method consists of a confinement system using windowless metal sheds, and wire cages, sometimes electrically charged. The animals are packed by the hundreds in these metal sheds and have no space to move. A lot of them die because they can’t get to food. Factory farm animals are fed and sprayed with huge amounts of pesticides and antibiotics to unnaturally make them grow faster, to ensure that you have the “meat worth your money.” The antibiotics and pesticides remain in their bodies, which then are passed on to the people who eat them. I suggest you do some research to learn more. One example of a factory-farmed animal is the pig. Piglets are taken off of their mother as soon as they are born and are packed in pens until sorted for meat or breeding. Since overcrowding leads to stress-related behaviors such as cannibalism and/or tail biting, farmers will chop off their tails and use pliers to break off the ends of their teeth with no anesthetics involved. Other ways of factory-farm abuse include scalding alive, slitting throats while alive, beating them to death, and other violent acts, which I have seen through videotape. FACT: If a dog or cat were abused in such ways, it's considered a crime against animal felony.

2. Question Authority.
Another fact is these mass corporations, such as KFC, McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, and others, who have raised ethical questioning, have gone under investigation, and witnessed first hand the abuse, which has all been proven through video tape. Then, when the company is confronted about the unethical treatment, they deny it. I can't say that for all cases, because in some instances they have admitted to the abuse, and have worked to correct the problem. Any business exists upon society, and it's the duty of the company to accommodate society. When bad things happen, no company wants to take credit for that. Why would they? Above all animal abuse cases in fast-food corporations, chickens endure the most abuse. Although KFC has made an agreement “to only deal with suppliers who promise to maintain our high standards and commitment to animal welfare,” investigations have proven KFC severely abuses chickens by scalding them alive, clipping their beak off without any painkillers, and leaving life-long crippling. There are more than 750 million chickens murdered each year for KFC, which are tortured in ways that would result in felony crimes if domestic pets were involved.
