What is Britishness is a very difficult and emotive question to answer. Where I come from in the UK, Scotland. You are not allowed to be British and are put down at every opportunity by a media with an agenda. Especially if you profess a love of all things British like I do. I’ve always felt a closer affinity to my English, Welsh, and Northern Irish brothers than to Jacobite Scottish Nationalists.

To me my Britishness comes from the shared experiences of my antecedents and all that they have passed down to me regards British history. Whether that history is to do with the Empire or either of the 2 world wars, or simply just the family background.

It also carries with it the expectation that I will act in the correct way as befits my moral Christian upbringing. The very type of upbringing that certain members of the Liberal elite are trying desperately hard to eradicate from our culture.
Sorry if this sounds like a rant, but as I said, it is an emotive question.

Being better at everything than everyone else and then realising that we are not at all. I do have immense pride in our history and our achievements for a such a small nation but let's face it. This islands sucks balls now and it is one of the worst in Europe for crime, alcoholism, teenage pregnancies, recycling etc.

As we have been basking in our past triumphs we seemed to forget that the rest of the world has moved on and we are not really all that anymore

Most people are aware that we are not really all that anymore. However, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be proud of our past.
It’s funny how the same people who are always telling us that we should apologise for our past are the same people who hate the US with a vengeance.

I just tried to folate myself. And sobbed when I couldn't do it. Is that predictable?

But seriously, why are Mancs so predictable?

Because you keep putting Manchester before England when it is quite clearly Birmingham first. Tssk.
