Commanders coordinating troop movements and maintaining communication with other units aren't doing it on walkie-talkies. We have extremely well established bases in Iraq that have everything from Burger King to swimming pools, but that shouldn't be the basis for the knowledge that our military has some pretty high-tech capabilities aside from big guns and big bombs. Bases in Iraq get their military internet connection from satellites, and the data is encrypted, but every unit needs basic web connection for various things. There's a classified net and an unclassified net. You can get to sites like Hotmail and MusicBanter on unclassed net. Obviously, classified info is not sent out on unclassified mediums, but virtually all military units have administrative offices that utilize both and rely on an internet connection. But yea, there's also commercial internet down there as well. It's just a matter of getting a commercial satellite installed. There's some folks who pitch in and buy a satellite on a camp and pay for bandwidth, then install wireless routers and broadcast.. setting it up so that you pay a monthly fee and are able to access the net via wireless on your 'puter. That's where you get the porn. Hehe.
