Am I the only one that believes that empathy comes from a place of narcissism because it requires you to see yourself in another's shoes and project your own ego on to them?

Like, I don't want this to happen to me, so I don't want it to happen to you because you are now an extension of my ego.

Is that not self obsessed?

It can be like that, but I think that's a very limited way to view it.
