I love my mother, but she's a terrible cook. She learned from my grandmother, who doesn't use measuring cups and just kind of guesses about how long something should remain in the oven/on the stove/etc, but my grandmother has been cooking just about everyday for over half a century, whereas my mom almost never cooks. Ever. And she wonders why she can never seem to make the same thing come out the same way twice.
