I got two right. I don't know a lot of US history.
|
Why should you? You're not in the US. If it involved Canadian history I wouldn't have gotten any of them right.

We did some US history in school. Personally, I think we have to, since we're joined at the hip. It usually starts with 1812, then the loyalists, WWI, the depression, WW2, Vietnam, Korea. It usually stops after that, or it did with me.
In my case, I learned lots of history just by watching the news. Our news was so US centric. It's not a complaint, just how it was. |
The Challenger clue was the easiest for me, seeing as how I am old enough to remember the event. Mount St. Helens I got right as well.
One thing I remember about the news coverage of the Challenger tragedy was the explosion wasn't put on constant repeat. It wasn't like a sports injury, where you see a guy break a leg from a dozen different angles. I was watching a final Jeopardy clue regarding historic US roads. The answer was Broadway. The clue was "Originally a Native American trail, the Dutch made it a main road. Today it runs 33 miles (come on, km people!) from State street to Sleepy Hollow". I got it wrong, but I should have remembered that New York City was once called New Amsterdam. *kicking myself* |
