Same with guns but at least I can fire guns and have a believable survivalist thing going on.

God literally same (the bolded) with me when I start once again thinking "I should seriously get into collecting antique dollhouse furniture/antique puppets" or whatever. But of course there's not really an existing image/archetype for an Antique Dollhouse Furniture/Antique Puppet Collector Lady, so..
Survivalist types have a similar energy as Sword Guys tbh. Sort of, vaguely. Guns are scary. (Rifles are neat tbh but still scary) Loud noise scary :c I'm a small nervous dog with anxiety.
Also swords are NOT just nerdy. Mall swords are pretty goofy. (I agree that actually being a serious Sword Guy would be quite intense or at least require a lot of mental energy, based on some of the youtube videos I've seen anyway.) We have a small mall-quality "house sword" over here. We bought it from the local porn store that inexplicably also sells mall swords, machetes (I love machetes), literal junk (like there's a tiny junk section), and miscellaneous old VHS tapes and dvds.

Axes are neat. Apparently axe-throwing places are now a thing.. One of them popped up here in recent years. Of course this was well after I declared that I wanted to get into axe throwing. (I had a knife throwing phase but I kept losing ALL the knives in the ground and was so very bad at it) So of course after I learned about it being a thing over here I was like "Well now I am not going to do it"
edit: I'm sure Austin has lots of axe throwing places. Likely some sort of axe throwing roller derby hybrid type place. Which honestly tbh is the only sort of roller derby I'd even consider.
