I read through that article and don't really disagree with it. Trump created a problem by going to that church on a whim. The risk of him being killed if he goes out in public at all is high, and his Secret Service plus the police have no idea where it might come from. If he goes out and does anything, he's obviously a big tangerine target since it wouldn't be that hard to sneak a few guns or a bomb into a crowd.

So organizing a violent assault on a crowd of people before going to the church qualifies as a whim now?

They weren't throwing ****. They were throwing water bottles. After the cops started advancing in full riot gear.

It wasn't well organized. That's why it happened in the first place. Trump's idea to suddenly go over there when there had already been non-peaceful activity (someone set fires on Sunday, plus there were violent protests on previous nights) was a bad idea to begin with.

Secondly, rocks are way harder than water bottles. Gear or no gear, one of those in your face or the skull can take out anyone.

I didn't realize there was a law that forbade protesting in places with previous violent instances. Otherwise it would just be a smokescreen to justify violent assault on a crowd for the sake of propaganda.
