Just leave it as is and in 1000 years the burnt remains will have the same reverence

Saturn rockets and the Coliseum are still way cooler than soup kitchens, bruh. My cynicism can't overcome my childlike wonder and I won't let it.

They should turn it into a sweet gift shop.

I also have childlike wonder. In fact, I’m Carl Sagan!

Was just bored and looking at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees and I lol'd at seeing that Yes and Tupac got inducted in the same year (2017).

Humans need culture and milestones to make them feel like their and their species' time on this earth has been worthwhile. Building the Pyramids, the Great Wall, the Magna Carta, going to the moon, even splitting the atom are all things that make existence feel less transient and pointless, and feeding the homeless instead won't change that.

A couple thoughts:

Sure i understand humans need it but its also a mentality i think we should be moving away from.

Rebuilding it is not the same as the original so what do you need all the money for? You could spend multitudes leas and make it a memorial wihout losing much symbolic value.

1. Just for religious cultural things or cultural things in general?

2. I mean if you want people to exist or be willing to exist in a world without human made things to inspire awe and wonder then we might as well be actual automatons, no? Part of my idea about a lack of free will is that humans can't actually live truly as if they have no free will because then they have nothing. Existing without monuments to look up to and stare at will be one less thing we have to give our lives aesthetics and texture (hard to put abstract concepts into words but I hope you get the gist of what I'm trying to say). We need things to distract us from nothingness whether it be books, music, or some pretty church.

It's been remodeled before so it's not like it was entirely original even a few days ago. So long as it looks like what people think Notre Dame is supposed to look like they'll suspend their disbelief.

I thought it was just the roof and steeple that burned down.
