Actually it feels more like you just ignored the answer I gave you. You're not at a loss as I already provided you with the information.
As I said, quoting is not answering. Unless it's very clear that you are answering or ask for further details from the OP. I could quote what you say, and then say something that opens up the discussion to everybody. Whereas, if I answered you, you are really the only one who could provide a valid response to what was said.
