It isn't answering. It's quoting, hence why it's a quote.
Answering would be directly asking the poster something.
Anyone can respond to your quote and say anything they want, it does not mean they have just entered a conversation with you.
It's pretty obvious forum culture.

I feel ya.. often times when talking to people, I respond to things they said sometimes days, even weeks prior. They dont know what the fuck im talking about, but it works for me.
