Canadian football is a bit different than American football though. Different number of downs, bigger ball, and I think some of the rules are different.

theres some slight differences, not much tho. its still basically the same thing. it's a more offesnive friendly game in canada. if nfl played by those rules, every team might score every possession. i think it's to make up for the talent difference between the two leagues. but there have been a couple nfl players who played in canada. cameron wake comes to mind.

There are CFL players who move to tbe NFL too although I don't think it happens often. Doug Flutie was one who started here then moved to the NFL I think. There are a surprising amount of Americans in the league too, who play Canadian football exclusively.

oh i know, cameron wake was an interesting guy. he was a dissapointment in college but an insane athlete. so he went to the cfl, absolutely dominated for 2 years, now is a pro-bowler for miami.

flutie is the guy i know best from the cfl and i assume most of the cfl are guys who were good in college but not good enough for the nfl. they actualyl televised a few cfl games here before the nfl season started and it was cool to watch, very enjoybale

basketball has really been growing in europe. places like spain and argentina have a big basketball prescense and every yr the nba draft is half filled with euro players. euro players are soft and usually dont do well, but i hope the game can change over time to allow for more successful euros and foreign players. theres some great young guys in the league right now

Basketball is played here too, think Luol Deng is British, you know him?

It's usually played by people who want to be American though.

butthead aka 216 09-28-2013 09:37 AM

oh yea, deng is awesome. he went to duke for one year and then went to the nba and i thought he would suck but he is a really valuable player. probably gonna get a big payday after this season

part of nba's exansion is, of course, marketing. i think i read a few years back that there was a poll in china and michael jordan was like the 3rd most recognizable name and he hadnt even played in years. jordan was the uprising of marketing for the league

the other part is the success of foreign players

tony parker - france
nowitzki - germany
ginobili - argentina
yao ming - china
etc

Cuthbert 09-28-2013 10:03 AM

I've heard of Ming, but I think that was only because Mayweather made some comments about him which some people thought were racist.

butthead aka 216 09-28-2013 10:07 AM

yao ming was one of the greatest things to happen to the nba, ever. he took the nba and made it a fixture in china which is a gigantic market that was previously untapped.

yao was pretty tiny

unfortunately injuries cut his career really short :(

Is that his wife? If so, she probably doesn't need to get pregnant to get stretch marks...

I just clicked on a site on Google and before it loaded I was asked which language I'd prefer. Beside the language names was a country flag and next to English was the Canadian flag. I was amused.
