So last night for the second time in a year I had right calf cramps that made me legit terrifyed. I looked it up and I guess this is called night leg cramps since this has happened while I was in bed, but I haven't really gotten a satisfactory explanation. I mean two times in the past year I've basically been trying to fall asleep or trying not to be awake, when all of the ****ing sudden my right calf has seized up to the point that I've had the very very very real terror that if I didn't do everything in my power to stretch my calf out by any means necessary that if the muscle contracted to its "end point" it would actually snap in half. No matter how irrationally an idea that is, the pain of this cramp is so sudden, so forceful, and so extreme that it's the only thing I can think of when it happens. I almost feel like I'd be a fool if I weren't worried about my calf muscle ripping in two.
The only thing I've found to deal with it is basically to force the front of my foot against a wall or floor so that it physically can't be forced forward (the heel of my foot being the fulcrum) to keep my foot as flat as possibly as if I were standing flat upward. If I let my toes go forward at all it's just agony. Does anyone else get this?

Nope. The scurriest thing is that I saw that alcohol abuse could be a factor. Like, **** you life. Leave me to my booze.

I know nothing about medical issues, but based on what MLM said above, I think the following two facts are at least interesting:
1) I have never experienced a cramp in my entire life. I don't even know what it feels like. 2) I drink lots and lots of water, and always have. There is always a huge mug of water near me and I often drink from it and refill it several times a day. Don't want to just assume there's a connection, but there might be, perhaps. |

Once or twice I've had it but I just straighten my leg out and it goes. I think that's down to exercise though, can't be dehydration as I drink water loads. Quote:
