What is the etiquette for replying to journals? I'm watching one of Trollheart's at the moment and keep replying to his posts but I get the feeling they're more for people posting to themselves kind of thing.

You can go ahead and reply to journal posts. It's fine and most people that write journals appreciate it because it gives them the attention they want as far as knowing that people are reading their material.
