It sounds like we're thinking of two different things re: americanization.

Elphenor, no it wasn'tt unfortunately-- the places around here all cater to the palates of elderly white people who think black pepper is spicy, so.
(BUT one tex-mex place near here makes decent chiles rellenos AND roasted quail which redeems them a bit-- I'm a slut for roast quail!)
