Worst book you've ever read
I hated that the Catcher in the Rye had basically no point other then Hey, I'm Holden Caulfield, relate to me. But it was really well-written and I didn't get exhasperated halfway through like I do with most "classic" novels.
For my birthday last year, my mom bought me the Twilight series. I read half of the first one and it was awful. Bella is seriously the blandest character in modern literature, you could not make a more blatant Mary Sue if you tried. |
The Bible.

Oh and to answer the question: Twilight. |
Anything by Steinbeck, especially The Red Pony, has to be the worst novel I ever read.

I thought The Pearl was decent.
|
The Pearl wasn't so bad, but I just don't like anything Steinbeck has written.
Also I agree with JH about the Bible,,,a work of fiction. |
Something called Slatewiper. It was retarded.
|
"The Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck. I have given it a few tries but I could never really get past that first sentence
Actually I've only ever gotten about a quarter of the way through before having to put it down. I found it really, really dry. |

^^^^^^^Meh Why bother.
I hated Wicked. Well I didn't hate it, but I found it grossly overrated. To be fair the books I hate are usually the ones I give up on pretty early on. |

Worst. Book. Ever! God I hated it so much. I bought it under the pretense that it was written by a young author and it was his own critique on his generation, but no it's written by so old douche bag who pines for "the good ol' days". I lent it to my friend and after reading a few pages he asked me if it was OK for him to write in it, I said it was and a few months after I got it back almost every page had a counter-argument or totally destroyed whatever credibility the author had, reading his comments was far more entertaining then the book. |
Twilight.
I'm still reeling from the ***gotry. |

--------------------------- Some people might disagree... but I hate Stephen King... he's so f###ed in the head! |
I like Stephen King, but his more recent horror stuff has been pretty lame.
Anyway. I dunno, probably The Voice of the Night by Dean Koontz. |
I thought Fahrenheit 451 was pretty bad overall. I also gave up on Iain Banks' Espedaire Street, probably the dullest thing I've read thus far.
I don't really read that much...:\ |
A Walk to Remember
I'm not proud of it. It was part of English class. Quote:

Can't really remember a truly awful book that I've read. I guess I could say Stephen King's Dreamcatcher, but it had its good bits. Didn't suck anywhere near as hard as the movie either.

chapter completly made up of flowery writing chapter completly made up of flowery writing SEXXX Repeat I sort of have a history of getting books for my birthday...and they usually suck. One year, my Grandpa got me this advice book by Bill O'Reiley. It was so stupid it was redic. |

Anywho, I can't say there is a book that I've read that I actually flat out hated. Usually if I'm not feeling it by the time I've read a decent portion of it, I put it down. |
Atlas Shrugged is the worst book ever.

Read this if you want a blatant course in arse kissing in literature. |

In all seriousness, the worst book I ever read is probably The Island by Peter Benchley (the dude who wrote Jaws). It's about a clan of modern day pirates who all live on some secret island in the Caribbean and are all descended from Blackbeard or some such bullshit. Anyway, it's as bad as it sounds.
