Default Tickets need serious help

Okay, so I just told my friend who Iv'e known since I was five that as graduation thing I would take him to a concert. Yeah, never bought tickets before. He's pretty closed about his taste, and the only person I know he likes is Yes. Like, literally, the only band, and he doesn't even own an album. I want to take him to something that will blow his ****ing mind, also, never bought tickets before! Is there some magical site that gives tour dates? I tried to look up the dates for Barry Adamson and I couldn't find anything helpful. HELP!!!! Suggestions for bands to see would be great, I have no idea who plays where or when. I live in California, Los Angelos. HELP!!

Though they're nazis, ticketmaster.com could hook you up. And Livenation.com for show listings, but a lot of times, I find better shows by finding local venues first and just keeping track of who comes through.

Well, start with where you live. It should be fairly easy if you just hit up the search engine with phrases like 'venues in _____'. Then from there, I disperse and start checking out the towns around where I live etc. You get the gist. Takes a little bit of effort. Now get to work. By the way, how old are you?

AHAHAHAHA. Yeah, I know, I did it on my own while you were responding and found a bunch of Leonard Cohen tickets... idk... I'll keep an eye out still. Leonard Cohen would be pretty cool though. I'm eighteen by the way.

If you live in a somewhat big city there may be a local newspaper that has upcoming shows, from there you can go to local record stores and buy tickets. If you're worried about your friend not enjoying himself, just get him ridiculously stoned before hand, but feed him one or two cans of Redbull to keep him awake, from there he'll be so jacked up on caffeine and marijuana he won't care what comes on.

He's one of those silly, hyper kids who still loves Bionicle and won't stop talking about Star Treck. Trust me he doesn't do drugs. Were not even really friends you might say, we used to be when we were really young and our families grew-up together. Were like brothers. Also, he rarely gives a band a chance. I mean, honestly when we were like 15 I told him he should branch out more then Yes (who I hated) and I was only listening to Green Day, Blink-182, and a handful of Beatles songs. I still don't know if he really likes Yes or just says that because of his dad, whose really British and is actually pretty into music.
