This reminds me of the guy I carpool with to work. He told me that when he talks to me about music he feels like a guy who drinks cheap boxed wine talking to a wine connoisseur. I was flattered, but the very first thing I thought was "Dude...you need to see these fools on MB...I've got nothing on them."

I have an iPod touch, which I am just getting used to using... Kind of a toy since you can't change songs while riding your bike unless you have a remote, which I don't have. I take it anywhere I want to check my email/browse the net that has wifi that I don't want to bring my macbook to. I've also got an iPod shuffle that I use with a set of underwater headphones for exercise. But I mostly use my iPod mini from January 2004... I took it apart, removed the hard drive and replaced it with an 8gb compact flash card (it has the same plug), and replaced the battery with a new, more modern version. Basically it's all solid state now, so I can throw it around, and it has like almost two use days of battery life, which is awesome. Plus you can change songs by pressing the buttons through your pants, which is nice on a bike. It's also the hardiest iPod I know of; I've dropped it in puddles, let the water evaporate out, and it's worked fine... Dropped it countless times, bashed it around, sweated on it, I take it everywhere. I think I had to wipe and restore it maybe once. I'm considering upgrading to either a 16 gb iPod touch or a white/silver iPod classic, but the budgets not in the cards yet. Other priorities first... Like being able to eat at school this year.

Who am I kidding. If I had my priorities straight, I'd be starving.

i have an 80bg ipod classic. before that i had a 30 ipod video that finally broke down
a few months ago. that thing was awesome. i had dropped it on concrete so many times
until finally, after years of abuse, it gave up. ive never had a problem with itunes either.
i don't understand why so many people complain about it. =/

160 GB classic. I only have like 3/4ths filled and it seems like it can survive anything so I hope I'll be using it well into my 20's.

Mines done this several times, you just unfreeze it with a special combination of buttons. It basically resets it. It may be different for each different model of iPod.. try googling it and see if you can find something.

Yeah i managed to reset it and now it's working fine again. You just hold the menu button and centre button and it resets, which i only discovered last night!
