hahahaha btw it really has nothing to do with me being "above" other people as I know many people are content listening to the radio or what ever pop-stars are around, which is fine, why disturb them, but it bugs me how my friend in every perfectly fine situation feels the need to make himself look like is way above what he really is, he actually is a compulsive lier and it is amazing how long he can drag out bull****, I swear everything he tells me I only believe 25% of it.

i'm finding it increasingly difficult to talk about music because i feel bad about insulting others about their musical taste when i percieve the bands they like as absolute shit. i believe music is supposed to be about feeling good and being unique, but when i think to myself "man, i know way more about music than anyone i know", i start to question whether or not i actually do. i mean, what does that even mean really? that i've listened to a broader base of music and enjoy a large variety of music while others are content with whatever the radio is playing? to be honest, i'm completely fine with whatever anyone else listens to, and if they claim to know more about music than i do then so be it, because i know that it doesn't matter how much about music you know, but rather what you do with the music you like.
that being said, you should just let your friend think whatever he wants to think and leave him alone. who's to say his opinions are any less valid than yours? if he wants to fabricate stances on things he knows nothing about, he'll only be hurting himself. or maybe you could just get a new friend? |

Discussing music, in general, isn't a big part of my daily life.
I guess that's why I post on MB. Really, now that I look at it closer, making music is a huge part of my life, but I rarely just listen to music unless I'm in my car. I'm not really an avid music listener. That kind of disturbs me, being a musician. But one thing's for sure, it keeps me fresh. I have more of a tendency to create music in an unadulterated way.

I can't bring my music up ever. If I ever mention trance, I always seem to get the same response "Ohh you mean like Sandstorm and Zombie Nation?? Have you ever heard Cascada?" That's where it ends. Sometimes I can see eye to eye when it comes to one or two genres but trance is my favorite.

Agreed. I have two friends that the sole reason they are my friends is to discuss music. I actually can not remember once having a non music related conversation with them. We just both love it.

We can only be original long enough to run out of influences. I'm still kinda in denial about that, but I know I need to accept these changes that are happening all around me. My biggest hurdle is identifying with them. I guess I should start listening to more music. lol.
