The reflective metallic "foil" on the disc. Like a foil cover on a 90s comic book.

But if it's called disc golf then I can call it a disc. Otherwise, why not name it frisbee golf?

Frisbee is a copyrighted term and disc golf discs aren't made by whoever the hell makes Frisbees so they're not Frisbees. They're also nothing like Frisbees. Try catching a disc golf disc and you'll feel the difference for a few hours. One dude I knew got hit in the shin and spent the rest of the day limping. They're much thinner, more dense, and generally have pointed edges that don't feel good when they hit skin. I suspect a well thrown bomb of a shot could give someone a pretty good concussion.

Isn't "Frisbee" a trademarked term that bled into the mainstream, like "Kleenex" for a tissue?

Frisbee's vs Disc Golf Discs:

Putters are the closest to the original Frisbee style so it's more stable in flight. Here's a good profile comparison between a Driver, Mid, and Putter:

"Frisbee" is a trademarked item by Wham-O. "Disc Golf" is not played using said trademarked items. You could use them in a casual, unsanctioned situation, but you'd probably lose horribly, and they aren't legal for use in sanctioned tournaments. *Also, contrary to some errant opinions, Disc Golf didn't happen because of the "Frisbee", it was first played using pie tins.

Besides being a card carrying member of the Grammar Natzi's, I'm also a Disc Golf Natzi.

Some light reading about the creator of all of it:

https://www.discgolf.com/disc-golf-e...her-disc-golf/

...and to confuse you even more, there's a "Super Class" for disc golf too:

https://www.pdga.com/super-class

I just picked up my players pack for this:

I hope that clears things up a bit.
