Default What other languages do you know, if any?

Obviously we are all typing in English right now, but besides that, do you guys know any other languages?

If you don't, what language(s) would you like to know and why?

Si hoc intellegere potes, in lingua Latina responde ut una res dicamus!

I've been learning Spanish for two years, and have recently learned I require another two more of it, so hopefully I'll be competent by that point.

I'm a far better writer and reader of it than speaker, but that's a trait in English as well. Naturally, it's compounded in another language.

I went to an immersion school and used to speak a bit of Japanese. I remember nothing except mi namo wa mikayru and of course arigato. I'm pretty sure I'm even spelling it wrong.

Sadly, none. I want to learn sign language though, it's actually useful for dealing with infants and toddlers. You can teach them to sign when they want a bottle or more food, stuff like that. It cuts down on the crying substantially.

Why are you required to take two more years, if you don't mind my asking?

It's part of a breadth requirement going into my masters degree. I'm required to have X number of credits in the humanities outside of my field of study.

It just turns out that as a result of some limited scheduling options last year, Spanish is the only one of my three humanities subjects I am able to pursue into the next years.

I speak some Spanish. Not very well, but well enough to get by in Spain.

I know enough verbal Japanese to probably at least function as a tourist, and maybe have a conversation with a gradeschooler. I can only reliably read about 100 kanji though, and I don't plan on continuing to practice it.

My native language is German, and I'm able to make use of the Austrian accent.
I think I'm quite good at English and my written Spanish can't be too bad either.
This summer I should catch up on Italian, I have never really had time in school to study it seriously.
In the future I'd like to learn another Germanic language, perhaps Dutch or Icelandic.
- Latin if I want to study a language at university.
