I've merged your thread with my one from last year.

Since learning a bit of Russian a couple of years ago, I sadly haven't done much on the language front. I'm pretty lazy so I can't see myself doing much more until I go overseas and rekindle the passion. But I should really make the effort to maintain my French.

I'm English, but my mum is Iranian, so I'm learning Farsi, and I do German at school, but I'm learning Italian next year

As strange as it is you're not far off the mark. Most non-english speaking countries really value the ability to speak English, it's definitely become the standard language around the world.
