Ah, dear wisdom of Americans...

Step 1: Tilt beer can until air bubble is positioned almost directly next to the bottom of the beer (this is where you pierce the aluminum).
Step 2: Using a key, razor, can opener, what have you, make a small (approx. 2-3 cm) diameter hole in the can's SIDE (as opposed to the stronger bottom).
Step 3: With mouth to the new opening, tilt the can upwards, simultaneously opening the beer the conventional way so that air forces the beer into your mouth.
