Yeah, the neighbourhoods I've lived in were built in the 50's and 60's. They only introduced outside mailboxes here for the suburbs like 30 or so years ago. It's less work for the mailman but I don't get how they know who's mail goes where. I guess every address for that street gets assigned a box but then there's like 50 little boxes. I'm guessing that every little compartment has the house number on it, sort of like apartment mailboxes have the unit numbers on them. The only problem with the mail slot is that if it's winter or just windy out, you get a draft.

The way it works for my neighborhood (as small as it is, it's like...5 houses), the mailboxes are down the street and they have the last name of the family that lives there and the house address. With apartments or bigger neighborhoods, they have just the house number and provide a key to each homeowner to the corresponding mailbox. Personally, I think the last name and address system works better than anything.

It must work similarly here. I know everybody gets a key from the local post office.

I just can't believe that I singlehandedly turned the conversation from sex to mailboxes. Let's go back to sex lol

So, since mail is delivered to the door here, I could pick it up while naked on a daily basis if I so wished, lol!
I'm not used to it really, when I lived with my parents we had a mail slot. Actually I loved the mail slot because my cat used to like to open it to get the mail and it was the cutest thing ever

EDIT: This looks weird now the post has been deleted

Having a mailbox would freak me out. Apart from a flat I lived in for a while, where obviously you have a postroom and assigned postboxes, the post has always been delivered to the door.

Well you live on the other side of the continent, so that might be a slight problem.

Hey I heard my boyfriend listening to Abba once, which was super surprising since he doesn't listen to that stuff. I think he still listens in secret though, lol.

Yeah, I'd be afraid of someone managing to get into my mailbox and steal my mail

Well one thing that I have seen is Gay couples. I have two males kiss and two female kiss. Which is better: Two males making love or Two females making love.
