I don't think is such a thing as too much but people have different values and goals in life.....people can live their lives happily in the lower class for all of their lives as long as they have their loved ones by their side. While others will never be happy chasing their goal of trying to get out of the class they are in and bettering themselves while the world passes them by.
There are two types of rich people.....new money ones and old money. The new money people are the ones that spend on ridiculous items once they gain some wealth while old money people are the ones that have inherited from their parents/relatives and have a long lineage of wealth in their family tree. For me personally, there will never be enough because I love having my money work for itself and consistently grow instead of me working a 9-5 , I find shortcuts to have my money work for me. Majority of people that donate money, do it for a cause they agree with or are close to but they also get tax breaks for it so it's a win win. |

Conversely, I know people who have average salaries, and spend their money on designer clothing, nice cars, and are in stupid amounts of credit card debt. Now in this economy, they're royally screwed. They're also miserable because most of their identity has been built around their stuff. Money is a good thing. It's only when superficial idiots get their hands on it (any amount of it) that it becomes a problem.

Most of the wealthiest people i've met have been polite & friendly, maybe even a little bit eccentric.
I find middle class people to be much much worse for rudeness , arrogance & snobbery.

makes sense... the middle class is constantly reaching for what the upper class have. I did a video job over the weekend and the family that hired me are a very well to do upper class family. Their home was enormous and as a family (5 kids) they all worked really well together... it bugged me a bit since I was raised middle class and am now in that category as an adult and as a family, mine don't work too well to get along. I wasn't angry at them, they seem to be very nice and generous people... I was just envious (which is a dangerous feeling to have) of the situation. Although you should never count another persons money as you don't know what kind of problems they may have that you would never want to deal with, it's hard not to want really nice things when it's right in front of your face.

Remember that twilight zone episode where the guy dies, and he thinks hes in Heaven, and he gets everything he's ever wanted and becomes so bored that he requests being sent to Hell, and is then informed that he's actually in Hell?
Thats why "It's never enough". If I win the lottery Im still going to find goals to reach and something to do with all my time. Being idle gets old fast. |

Just to clarify, I never meant to imply to just be "idle" and stop living. I simply meant material items and money are never going to bring me what I'm looking for, so reaching for those to bring you what you seek in life is an empty pursuit. I don't need either to achieve peace of mind and happiness.
