Yeah I ate some on Aborigine Day as a kid and it was pretty nice... if I remember, it was a bit gamy and maybe a cross between beef and venison. I wouldn't mind trying some more sometime.
And I had no idea that kangaroos are adept swimmers... some Australian I am. Platypi are really weird creatures as well. People think they're cute but I wouldn't fancy being swiped by one of the hind leg spurs of a male platypus... they deliver fairly venomous poison which apparently has an excruciating effect on humans (not lethal though). Oh and they're one of the very few mammals to use electroreception to locate their prey.
