I'm surprised some punk band hasn't used it for a record cover yet.

I believe that gif is footage of some gang retalliation.

LoathsomePete 06-03-2013 10:58 AM

Plus it gives Darwin defiers a chance to have their genes culled in this age of healthcare and medicine.

I wasn't actually talking about the gif. I was just referring to Jackass.

I am not sure if you are trolling me right now. As said below, how can you not find the absurd stupid things they do funny? And the work put into a stunt that they know will ultimately fail. If serious, I am sorry I am not as high brow as you and don't need uber intelligence to laugh at something.

I'm certainly not trolling you. I don't do that, despite my name.
No, you laugh at what you want to. It's actually a little unfair and condescending of me to have said what I said, so I apologise. That came across really stuck-up, didn't it? Fair's fair: you like a particular type of comedy, I like another. Some things make me laugh that wouldn't raise a smile probably for you, and things you roll about laughing at might just have me roll my eyes.

I of course am not just talking about you, Rez: reading back, that was a really arrogant thing for me to say and if anyone was offended, sorry.

But I do hate the lowbrow humour of shows like Jackass and Eurotrash and what have you, but in fairness, that's just me.

Peace, as they say.

I think the appeal most people found in Jackass, back when it first started up, was the outlandishness of all the self-inflicted pain. I'm sure a lot of people got off on that, comedy-wise.
But, time went on and the novelty wore off.
Besides, you can find crazier things on the internet now days, and you don't need cable ratings to do it.

OK well I like the classics. I like comedy that seems clever --- your Fawlty Towers, your Frasiers, that sort of thing. But then, I also love Bottom, Young Ones, Black Adder, Red Dwarf but hate Little Britain, Gimme gimme gimme and Last of the summer wine and th Good life, and despise Friends. I guess it's more a case of what appeals to me rather than what's actually funny. I could I suppose laugh at something in Little Britain but find the rest of it totally stupid and pointless. I like to be entertained, as does anyone, but I also like to be challenged a little, like why is something funny? It might relate back to something else, be an in-joke or a clever pun perhaps.

Stand-ups I don't usually watch or rate, though two exceptions would be Dylan Moran and the mighty, kingly troll Bill Bailey. I also like Lenny Henry but not Lee wotsit, he of the monkey face. I'm also totally averse to comedy/comedians who get their laughs solely by using bad language or slagging off someone or some ethnic group. And yet I like Alf Garnet, but then that was only in fun.

Evans, that's it. Lee Evans. Can't stand him.

I am also a big fan of Faulty Towers. My parents got me into a lot of that stuff like Black Adder.
